How TrainAsOne helps us train with two young kids

You know how it is when you’ve got young kids. Anything and everything can come up and get in the way of the training you want to do.

5am… we’ve tried it…

If you plan to get up at 5:00 for a run, absolutely no doubt the kids will wake up at 4:30 and completely ruin that plan. If you plan to run in the evening after they’ve gone to bed, one of them will refuse to sleep.

It means you need a flexible training plan.

A lot of what we’ve tried to follow in the past has been a traditional 12-week / 24-week training plan with x workouts that you need to do.

When life gets in the way, as it often does being a parent, then you need to sacrifice your running plans. It’s just the way it is.

That means the very well-designed workout plan is now missing key workouts.

TrainAsOne

That’s where, for us, TrainAsOne has helped. It takes the worrying out by using it’s AI capabilities to rewrite your plan on a day-by-day basis to take into account those changes.

It also removes the need to think about what you’re doing, or how you might adapt what you’ve been given to suit your availability.

For us at the moment, on the weekdays we’re necessarily reduced to short workouts. By putting a 30-minute limit on workouts during the week in the app we’re ensuring we’re getting the optimal training for the amount of time we have.

It’s a similar story on the weekend when we have more time to train. We’re able to take advantage of this by using the app’s ability to create tailored workouts for each day of the week, as well as its ability to automatically adapt these workouts based on our current fitness levels.

For the moment we have very different goals as a team. For Gabby she’s returning to running following giving birth to the kids, so she’s using TrainAsOne to help build back into running. Once she’s back up to speed and is happy with it she’ll revisit if she wants to do any races.

Liam’s using it with two goals in mind. After not really doing any real running since last autumn, it’s also rebuilding running. Firstly, he’s going to try and see what improvements in his 5km time can be achieved over the winter. This is going to be on the same course at CityTrail Lublin with races every month from October to March.

After that, he’s aiming for Warsaw Marathon in 2023.

Join us on this journey and we’ll see what impact TrainAsOne and the two kids have on our running over this time.

Oh and if you want to give TrainAsOne a go… it’s free!

If you want to sign up via this link and in the future, you decide to go premium then we’d get a little bit off our subscription cost, which would be nice! If you don’t want to do that then just head over to trainasone.com to give it a go.
