Christmas, the last couple of weeks and more…

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Yep, it’s the time of the year when you need to use the left over holiday so team Rabbit Food had a couple of extra days before and after Christmas. It’s also been a few weeks since our last post, unfortunate loss and Christmas caused that.

So what have we been up to?

Well first up, the big bad news from the last few weeks. Unfortunately we lost our loving, lovely, little soul Alfie. Alfie was the rabbit (along with partner in crime Jess) who gave rise to the name of our site. We wrote a big piece about him here.

We’ve had a fantastic Christmas with some brilliant food including a fantastic Mushroom Wellington, an amazing vegan pate (Polish style), and Cela-ryba (celeriac fish). We’ll work on getting those recipes up and ready over the next few weeks!

Mikey dog enjoyed his Christmas too, way too many treats and as ever was a poacher of any food left unattended…

We spent a load of time over in Lublin, including visiting an absolutely fantastic vegan restaurant (you’ll find it on Facebook here). The food was incredible. Gabby opted for a kebab made with Seitan, which was absolutely delicious. Liam went for a burger made with shredded, Korean BBQ Seitan, which was also absolutely delicious. Definitely will be going back!

We also went and had a bit of splurge in Decathlon. Getting some updated running gear. New hats, running shoes and a running pack too. Watch out, we might drop a few gear reviews a little way down the line on a few of these.

Back a few weeks we headed out on a long run, where we got up to 1 hour 45 minutes, in the snow and ice (once it stopped snowing). It was our longest run in a long time and was pretty tough with the snowy, icy conditions. We loved it though. Brilliant to get out and make footprints on untouched trails. We also made up a video that formed the question posed in this post: Question: Running in the day or night?

Running with Rabbit Food

The last week hasn’t been great from a sport perspective courtesy of Liam deciding to slip on some ice and hurt his ankle. The 365 running challenge is still on, the runs were just very slow. Slower than walking pace, as that’s all that he was able to do.

We’re looking forward to the New Years Eve celebrations and returning to normality, hopefully getting into training again and be on the run towards spring and summer!

Let us know what you’ve been up to!
