A new house being built, a run of ice and castles. It sounds like a summary of a terrible version of Game of Thrones but instead it was just our weekend. Here’s a look back at what went on:

First up, the Saturday saw us spending our time putting up membranes and insulating the rooms upstairs in the house. It’s great now as we can really get a feel for the size of each of the rooms. Alas all the insulation that we’ve got doesn’t stop it being absolutley freezing inside when it’s -13C outside!
Talking of which, the second thing, it was a wee bit chilly on Saturday… The day started at -13C and warmed up to -4C before hitting -8C again in the evening. It made for a very cold, but very beautiful dog walk in the morning and an equally cold run in the evening. The kind of run where your hat has ice on the outside…

Third up, Sunday was much warmer so we decided to head out to nearby beauty spot / famous town Kazimierz for a lovely 10km trail run. Along the Wisła (Vistula), up past the castle and round through some famous gulleys. It was utterly stunning and the light dusting of snow around made it more so. Throw in the fact it was cold and there were barely any people around. It meant having this beauty spot all to ourselves. Wonderful.

Castles and Ice
The gulley roads
The pictures really don’t do the steepness justice
It made going down them a lot more fun
With the sun out it was beautiful
If you’re interested in following that route yourself you can find it on the Komoot app here
Before / After the run alongside the Wisła it was very strange to see “icebergs” floating down the river…

We’re still trying to keep going with the yoga and Yoga with Adriene is still keeping us going. This was our favourite from the weekend:
Onto this week, it’s a week with a few more runs in hopefully warmer weather and we’re hoping to have a new recipe up. Exciting! See you on the otherside!
