A little training review and some snakes

Time for a little bit of a training review.

It’s under two weeks now until the first race day of the autumn/winter season and I’ve just run my latest perceived effort run.

It’s a key test as part of setting training zones for the plan so it’s always an interesting one.

On the 12th of August, a TrainAsOne perceived effort test was the first workout of the new running regime.

Having been away from running for quite some time, it felt like a massive step back from where I was. This was, I guess because it was.

The results of that test the paces were:

Recovery: 7:18/km
Easy: 6:34/km

Fast forward to today and the repeat of that workout. Yes, it was a little cooler, by about 10 degrees. But things have been going pretty well over the last few months.

The question is then, what has the impact been of getting some consistent, COVID and children aside, running pattern?

One that’s been adapting as we go thanks to being driven by an AI Coach as opposed to a standard training plan.

Well as of this test the paces now are:

Recovery: 6:35/km
Easy: 5:55/km

It feels like a great leap forward and it is a real boost to the emotional side of the brain. The work that has been put in, the process, has had a positive impact.

One thing that has really been interesting though, more so than the results of the training so far. It’s that it’s changed how I’m feeling about running.

Running is fun again.

Also, there were snakes everywhere. Most were flat in the road, some however, were not…
