Appreciating we’re a little way on now and it’s nearly the end of week 5, the first stage of the new training regime has been completed. Swim and bike tests plus footage from the run and bike.

This under the supervision of Coach Hadi from Triathletes Performance as we look to find which weaknesses to start working on first and identifying any easy wins from simple changes.
The main priority for Liam is still trying to get the knee working properly without pain. It’s going to be a long path but hopefully the swim and cycle work should help to maintain condition. First up for us though was a new strength and mobility routine.
The long awaited(?) return to the pool also happened, with the first week for Liam ending up being his single biggest swim week aside from Olympic triathlon race week last August. More swimming was always going to be required, and now we’re getting into it. Thankfully the pool at OSiR Poniatowa is lovely and quiet during the time Liam gets to swim!
Gabby’s running has all gone to plan, with a good long run up at 16km and plenty of speed and threshold work during the week. It still feels like settling back into training, luckily the lack of a winter out here in Poland is helping things along motivation wise!
We’re now looking forward at Week 5 as the Marathon starts to come towards us at a, seemingly, ever increasing rate. At the moment Gabby is looking strong, Liam is touch and go. If we can’t get the knee to clear up effectively (and it’s not usually a quick one to heal) then it might be a DNS… Not happy times.
What have you got planned for the weekend? Let us know in the comments.
