The (long) weekend that was

So, as a lovely surprise, just before the weekend the Polish government announced that we’d be having Monday as a national holiday. Celebrating 100 years of independence is a big thing, though they didn’t really have much notice it was coming up, so no wonder it was only called last week.

With the long weekend we thought we’d get at it and do a load of things! Things! Here’s a recap of some of those lovely, lovely things.

1. We ran a race, the first race in a while. It was all in celebration of the aforementioned Independence Day (just with more notice). It also turned out to be a really well-run series of runs nearby (40km).

It was a really fun outing, a really lovely cross-country trail and hundreds of people all having fun. And medals. Lovely, lovely medals. I think it’s fair to say that we both miss the feeling of running in an organised event… must do more.

2. Liam was super happy with a Personal Best 5km run. Garmin called it at 27:08 but the timing chip called it 27:01. So close to going sub 26… All at the end of 100 days of running.

(Did we mention the medal, the lovely medal?)

3. The house-build rattled along at pace. We got a heap of the downstairs insulation in and started the process of building the internal walls. It’s nice to be working on building your own house with your hands.

Actually, that was mostly it! Working, running and a bit of cycling to end things off. Excited this week coming to be heading back to the UK for a trip and getting back into running with some more intensity.

Have a great week!
